5 Star review for Build A Love

My latest book has been out for two days and it's already made the top 30 Best Seller List - sitting at number #5!

On top of that, I just got an amazing 5 Star review on Goodreads from SiK Reviews!

Here's what it said -

's review

5 of 5 stars
Read in November, 2014
Ok, let me say this book had me crying at different places for different reasons. Happiness.....fear.....sadness...... Just an emotional roller coaster for me. Harry has gone through a lot in her life. She decided to close herself off from any relationships except her two best friends, who happen to be a gay couple. When Harry decides to do a remodel of her home/studio, she hires Bryan and Marco's company. After a comical first meeting, there was an equally comical and scary second meeting.

To watch Harry push past her fear, and let not just one but two men love her is just phenomenal. I love "watching" people fall in love. When her past comes in and threatens to tear the triad apart, it is Bryan and Marco that save her. Add in a miracle and really awsome Italian parents, and this story is the best book by Suzy I have read yet. And, the other are really great too! Keep it up Suz!!!!

It's always nerve wracking when you bring out a new book - will people like it? Will they think its crap?  When you see it burst onto the best seller list, you get a warm fuzzy feeling of excitment.  Then when someone posts a review - a 5 star one - you know you've done something right.

When you write a book, you bond with the characters. Their emotions become yours. So when you read that someone 'cried, laughed, felt happy, felt sad, felt fear' you know that somehow it just worked.

Those emotions your characters had translated onto the page for your readers to feel.

Well, I am one very happy author who had a big grin on her face!

Make Me Surrender - Tina Donahue's latest book

WHAT TO READ AFTER FSOG

Make Me Surrender – included novella by Tina Donahue

Tina Donahue’s Make Me Surrender (menage):

She has a proposition…to win their attention, passion, hearts.

For over a year, Mercy’s had her eye on Travis and Dutch, two of the hottest guys on the Oregon coast. Dark and dangerously virile, Travis owns a saloon that caters to bikers. Dutch looks like one, right down to his impressive tats, and operates a motorcycle repair shop on the premises.
When a position opens in the saloon’s kitchen, Mercy sees a way to be near these sinfully sexy men, wanting the job and lodging, her cabin snuggled between theirs.
Travis isn’t so sure about having Mercy nearby. She’s deliciously curvy, but too nice. He’s into temporary fun. To Dutch, forever is a dirty word.
Imagine their surprise when sweet little Mercy encourages wild nights of carnal pleasure with a dash of bondage and spanking…followed by friendship and tenderness.
Before she’s through, these tough guys will be the ones who’ve surrendered.

Excerpt

Travis slammed the pickup’s door and went around to the bed.
Mercy reached it just as he did. “Can you hand me the cooler?” She pointed to it.
She’d painted her nails the same shade as her lips. He recalled her finger in his mouth, how good the frosting and her skin had tasted. A sudden shock of heat spread from Travis’s belly to his crotch.
“There’s a fridge inside, right?” she asked.
It took him a moment to catch up. He nodded. “Your own private bath too.” Just in case she’d planned to use the one in Dutch’s cabin or his, driving both of them over the edge.
“Thanks.” She took the cooler from him and pulled out a single-wrapped Popsicle. Cherry-flavored. “Want one?”
Travis’s answer died in his throat at her tongue snaking around the tip of the pop. She worked the treat between her lips, in and out, as she would a man’s stiffened rod. Unable to speak, he shook his head.
Mercy licked the corners of her mouth, her tongue stained scarlet. “If you do later, go ahead and take as many as you want. Sure is hot today.”
His damn underwear was practically smoking.
After giving him another smile, she followed her girlfriend to the cabin. Like a lovesick puppy, Travis followed, staring at Mercy’s plush ass, the backs of her thighs. All that pale, smooth skin had him breathing hard.
She stopped. He couldn’t, at least not quickly enough, and bumped into her, his cock snuggled against her butt. Mercy looked over, submission in her eyes, a drop of Popsicle juice on her lower lip.
It glittered in the afternoon light, inviting him to taste its sweetness, the cushiony comfort of her mouth.
With a shitting lot of willpower, Travis stepped back, letting Mercy lick her lip before he did.
On a sigh, she turned from him and considered the cabin’s interior again. Bright and clean, smelling of disinfectant and Febreze. He and Dutch had worked on the damn place for hours.
“Wow. This is really nice.” Mercy touched the wooden bedframe, small kitchen set, and freshly washed curtains as though they were made of gold.
Travis wondered what she would think of his old place in one of San Francisco’s most exclusive high rises, or his parents’ many mansions. He’d willingly walked away from so much when she hadn’t had the choice. Rotten luck had caused her to be alone, to work at Fast Fill and here in order to take care of herself.
Mercy didn’t seem to mind or care about money at all. In that they were so alike, making Travis admire and like her even more.
She offered a grateful smile. “You did an awesome job.”
“Way better than Carl would have,” the girl with her gushed, then added, “I’m Jill by the way. Carl’s my guy. That’s his pickup you drove,” she said to Travis. “Thanks for not hitting anything with it.”
Dutch chuckled.
Mercy gave him and her friend a disapproving look. “Travis wasn’t driving that fast. He’s just in a hurry to get me moved in. Do you have plans later?” She spoke to him and Dutch. “Either of you? Am I interfering?”
Travis had thought about calling one of the women he knew, maybe grab a pizza, catch a movie, screw until they were both raw then call it a night. “Nope. Dutch probably does.”
“I don’t,” he said immediately, and smiled at Mercy. “We’re all yours.”
She nodded slowly and licked the length of her Popsicle.
Travis’s throat constricted. He cleared it and said, “After we bring in your things, we’ll set up the ground rules for this arrangement.” He gestured to Dutch. “Let’s go.”
When they reached the pickup’s bed, Dutch spoke quietly. “Ground rules? You mean her hours of work. What she’s supposed to do.”
“Yeah, along with you keeping your jeans zipped and wearing a damn shirt when she’s around.”
“Like you’re doing? Oh wait, you’re not.”
“I didn’t wrap my arm around her.”
“It was a friendly gesture. Hell, I do the same with my grandmother. It’s not a felony.”

FATED by Allyson Young

FATED is Allyson Young's second book in the Marking Time series ...

Reece Murdoch is back in Barrister, Wyoming after his military tour. Ostensibly returning to take the position of Sheriff, he plans to confront the woman of his dreams. After what they’d shared, he’d foolishly believed Candace Grant would wait, but all his heartfelt letters were met with silence. And now she is avoiding him and freezing him out.

Candy Grant is never going to allow Sheriff Murdoch a civil conversation, let alone a discussion. Oh, he’s interested—probably thinking he can waltz right back into her life. Except he’d gutted her, leaving six years earlier without warning and only eight scribbled words. She’s since lived a fast, shallow existence she’s determined to continue, and never get hurt again.

Reece needs a plan, one to address Candy’s propensity to speed while asserting his lawful authority—with handcuffs and a night of house arrest. Will the truth set them free?

EXCERPT:

Reese Murdoch slouched comfortably against the broken-in seat of the county’s second best cruiser, gripping the wheel with one big hand.
He found himself sighing. Barrister wasn’t a bad place. Born and raised there, he knew pretty much all the inhabitants. Being elected as Sheriff had been a no brainer, being a military man home from Iraq and all, presumably well versed in weapons and leadership. Both true, except he was hampered by a paltry budget, and the people he’d sworn to serve and protect were scattered over a huge part of the state. Good thing the work wasn’t onerous.
No doubt that would change over time, people being what they were, but he was bored for the most part. The one thing—person—who could easily obliterate that boredom didn’t deign to recognize either his existence or his authority, and he hadn’t decided which plan to pursue in that regard. It’d been months, but if he’d learned anything in the military, it was that an offensive had a better chance of succeeding if one gathered solid intelligence and formulated a careful plan of attack. He wryly admitted he’d come home because of Candace Grant, if only to determine why she’d ignored all of his efforts to get in touch with her over the years. Some might call it closure. He just plain wanted her, and knew enough about women to know that while her demeanor said one thing, something else was operating behind that icy exterior.
In the meantime, there was the odd drunk and disorderly to deal with, complaints about cattle rustling to investigate, a few domestics—and didn’t he hate those—and some traffic violations.
The road dipped to accommodate an arroyo, and he rose up out of it to crest the slight hill. And speaking of traffic violations, the unmistakable silver Bimmer hammering in his direction, trailing a dusty rooster trail, caused him to grind his teeth and war with his responding arousal. Damn her. She was going to kill herself one day in that stupid car, maybe before he put the final touches on his plan. Flipping on his lights, he considered his strategy, noting the way the smaller vehicle’s hood dipped in response to the application of brakes. She’d been flying along.
She pulled the Bimmer over, and he drifted on by to pull a three point turn and come up behind her. Candace hadn’t made eye contact at all, staring straight ahead through the windshield, and he figured she had to know it was him. She didn’t cut his deputies dead. He took his time, watching Candace’s profile in the side mirror, willing his professionalism to the fore when all he really wanted to do was drag her back to the cruiser, handcuffed, and take her home. Someplace safe—and easily accessible for both their pleasure. The plan suddenly came together.
Approaching the open window, he spoke in a matter-of-fact tone. “You were hitting seventy, Candace. We’ve had this discussion before.”
She didn’t reply, instead thrusting her paperwork toward him. Her picture on the license didn’t fit with the stony visage looking dead ahead. Despite the customary, don’t smile, hair tucked behind your ears, dictates of the DMV, Candace’s full mouth, with its eminently bitable bottom lip somehow quirked up at the corners, and there was no mistaking the sparkle in those baby blues. Just as he remembered her—full of life and joy, bubbly, vivacious, and all those adjectives people applied to her. But then, he’d admit he’d hardly given her anything to smile about, primarily because she wouldn’t give him the time of day. That was gonna change.
Tugging the license and registration from her stiff fingers, he decided to play her game. “Step out of the vehicle, Miss Grant.”
That garnered him a wary look, a quick glance that she instantly modified into boredom. He didn’t miss the way she flickered her eyes to her watch. Was she meeting someone? On her way to a hot date? Sheridan lay in that direction, and whatever Candace got up to, she didn’t do it in Barrister. The rumors he’d overheard flourished. Reece had access to a different form of contacts and knew the truth of some of those rumors. He wasn’t surprised about Candace’s interests, merely disappointed he hadn’t been able to guide her and take the journey with her. But he’d done what he had to back then. That she hadn’t accepted his explanation and apology, wouldn’t even give him the opportunity to discuss it further, grated him raw.
He opened her door and stood back, breaking procedure, instantly grateful for the way the door frame concealed his sudden erection, his cock saluting the vision emerging from the Bimmer without any regard for his bigger brain. The top she wore hardly covered her attributes, cried out for him to touch the silky fabric and tug on those discreetly concealed laces. The length of shapely leg revealed by the short skirt flirting around her thighs forced his hands to grip the metal until he thought it might groan beneath his grasp.
Once again his woman was on the prowl, and he was damned if he’d let her take what she was offering up to Sheridan or any other place loaded with men who couldn’t possibly appreciate her the way he planned. Disappointment again soured him, and he impatiently shoved it aside. He’d waited long enough.
“What?” A hint of nervousness whispered through the aloof question.
“This is the third time, Miss Grant. I assume you recall the consequences are for persistent speeding.”
Narrowing, blue eyes locked with his, then a flush of pink colored her décolletage and rose up the long, lovely column of her throat to paint her cheeks. She spoke between set lips, criminally thinning that lush bounty, another crime she’d pay for in the end.
“Give me the ticket, Sheriff. I’ll pay it like I did the others. Help out with your salary.”
“Step out and assume the position.”

NEW RELEASE - The White Witch's Legacy 2 - Eryn by Kelsie Belle

The White Witch’s Legacy 2: Eryn

by Kelsie Belle

Eryn Lancaster is grieving the loss of the only family she’s ever known, her grandmother Clarisse. She wants to sell their little business and move away from the village she has lived in all her life, in order to get over the pain of loss. Then a gorgeous business man walks into her little bookstore-cafe with an offer to purchase and turns her whole world upside down. But Eryn is in for the shock of her life when she finds out who she really is and just why Asher Valentino sought her out.
Ash is on a mission to help his brother's girlfriend, Raven, find her long lost sister, in order to defeat an evil sorcerer. But when he finally finds the enchanting beauty called Eryn Lancaster, the mission becomes the last thing on his mind. He wants her and he plans to have her by any means necessary. He plays a dangerous game of deceit by omission that almost gets him the prize he desires most, Eryn's body. But he soon learns that lies and lust could cost him the prize that he needs the most, her love.

      Excerpt:
Eryn knew it was rude to stare, but she couldn’t help herself. God knew it was very rare that such a fine specimen of manhood even passed by the threshold of this antiquated store.
Of their own will, her eyes traveled down from his face to peruse the rest of him, and she was not disappointed in the least. He was tall, at least a good foot or so taller than her petite frame, with lean muscles that spoke of strength without unnecessary bulk. She could only imagine how absolutely fantastic he would look without the black button-down shirt he was wearing. The long sleeves were cuffed to his elbows, the fabric stretching across his chest, and she imagined that, if removed, it would reveal sinuous muscles and not an ounce of spare fat on his frame.
“Hello?” the stranger said. His smooth as silk, raspy voice broke into Eryn’s reverie and snapped her back to reality. That’s when she realized that he was staring at her so intently that his gorgeous eyes were literally smoldering. Heat suffused her face in an instant, the fire in his eyes sparking a yearning within her that was totally unexpected. She blinked rapidly in a bid to pull herself together, and hoped to God there wasn’t actually drool oozing out of the side of her mouth.
“Oh! Um, yes, hello,” she stuttered in a rushed, breathy voice that made her blush as she heard it. She cleared her throat and tried again. “Please forgive my rudeness. You must be the gentleman that’s interested in purchasing the store, right?”
There was a slight pause and Eryn noticed a flicker of confusion cross his face, but it disappeared so quickly that she couldn’t really be sure. “Ah…yeah, that’s right! I came to take a look around,” he replied, almost as if he’d forgotten why he was here. That struck Eryn as odd, but she didn’t dwell on it, although it would be too bad if such a gorgeous man wasn’t altogether right in the head. She almost chuckled at that thought.
“Well then, right this way, please,” she told him, stepping aside to allow him to enter the small store.
He stepped across the threshold, his steps faltering almost imperceptibly as he did so. He quickly regained his equilibrium, though, making her wonder again if she was imagining things. He walked confidently into the cluttered room so she could close the door behind them. She watched closely as he shoved his hands into his pockets and looked around the room several times before turning back to her.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Asher Valentino,” he said with a devastatingly disarming smile.
He withdrew one slender yet strong hand from his pocket and leaned over to offer it to her. Eryn licked her unexpectedly parched lips before reaching out to accept his gesture. The moment he enclosed her small hand in his firm grip, heat shot up her arm and her whole body began to tingle with a sensation she’d never felt before in her life. Every nerve ending seemed to come alive, the hairs on her neck prickled, and her eyes flared with an awareness that was almost tangible. Utterly unnerved by the strange occurrence, she quickly pulled her hand out of his hold, offering a feeble, apologetic smile for any offense he might take to her response.
“Um, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Valentino,” she told him, then had to clear her throat when she realized how husky she sounded.
His smile remained in place, but his eyes narrowed slightly as he continued to study her. “Oh no, Ms. Winthrop, the pleasure is definitely all mine. I must admit, though, you aren’t who I was expecting when I saw the name Clarisse Winthrop.”
Eryn froze for a second at the mention of her grandmother. It was still surreal to think of her in the past tense, but she took a deep breath and pasted as bright a smile as she could muster onto her lips. “That’s probably because my name isn’t Clarisse Winthrop. I’m Eryn Lancaster. Clarisse was my grandmother. This place belonged to her before she passed on.”
The minuscule widening of his eyes was the only indication that he was surprised by the information she had just shared. Then his face took on a look of genuine sympathy, compassion shining in the depth of his lovely eyes. “Well, Ms. Lancaster, please forgive my assumption. And I’m very sorry for your loss. Were you two very close?” he asked.
She should probably have been taken aback by the frank question, but somehow, it didn’t strike her as the least bit odd. Her lips curled in a sad smile and she turned away from him, not trusting herself to be strong in the face of the compassion she saw in his eyes. “Yes, actually. She was my only family. I lost my parents a long time ago.” She heaved in a huge breath in an effort to shake off the morose feeling that had enveloped her. “Anyway, Clarisse lived a full, happy life, so mourning for her would be pointless. Why don’t we get on with that tour you came for?”
He gave a rueful smile, acknowledging her wish to change the subject with a brisk nod. “Of course. Lead the way,” he told her.

Adult Excerpt:

Instantly, his hands found her drenched pussy and began to caress her. Then he was leaning down, his head settling between her spread legs and his mouth finding her hot sex. She quivered and moaned as his tongue swiped along the swollen slit of her opening, delving into her as it passed back and forth.
“Lift your blouse and fondle your breasts,” he commanded, easing his mouth off her pussy so he could speak. She quickly did as she was told, pushing her blouse up to expose her generous boobs and taking them into her hands.
“That’s it baby,” he whispered his encouragement. “Squeeze those tits. Make your pussy flood for me.”
She expelled a long, low moan as his mouth returned to her pussy and began the sweet, torturous licking again. She pinched and tweaked her nipples, then rubbed the sensitive tips with her palms. The sensations created by the cool wind wafting across her skin, her smooth palms gliding over her nipples, and Ash’s mouth sucking on her clit were almost unbearable, and soon she was writhing in pleasure on the hard surface of the hood. Her pussy fluttered and pulsed, liquid fire oozing out of the hot hole as Ash’s expert mouth pleasured her sex. She continued to stimulate her breasts with her fingertips, adding to the sensations already overwhelming her nerve endings. Soon Ash was pushing her legs even wider and, sliding his stiffened tongue in and out of her entrance in a maddeningly deep tongue-fucking.
“Damn, Ash! I want more,” she cried, releasing her breasts to thrust her fingers into his hair, not caring two hoots anymore who might hear or see her. “Please, baby, I need your cock.”
He didn’t hesitate to grant her wish, pulling back to gently drag her off the car by her legs as soon as he heard her desperate plea. “Turn around and bend over,” he told her, unsnapping his jeans as he waited for her to obey his command.
Her skirt still bunched up around her waist, she bent forward until the tips of her breasts touched the cool metal of the car. She gasped when she felt Ash spreading her legs wider to accommodate him between them and then his heavy cock was at her entrance, pressing forward to ease inside her body. She groaned as he slid into her slickness, his shaft stretching her pussy, causing a twinge of discomfort to the still-slightly-sore tissues.
“Oh God, yes!” she cried, loving the feeling of being stretched to capacity, completely filled with his massive cock.
“Feels good, huh?” he asked, his voice a breathless groan, as if he was barely hanging onto his control. “So goddamn good!”

GUEST AUTHOR: Victoria Black

Today I'm pleased to host Victoria Black on my blog.

Victoria can you tell the readers a little about yourself and your new book?

I'm from Queensland, Australia and love tropical islands, snorkelling on the Barrier Reef, good wine and hot spicy food. Amazingly, all of these appear in Unexpected Places. Sadly, treasure maps and priceless emeralds have been in short supply in my real life, so I've written a story about them.
You can find out more about me and Unexpected Places on my website, victoriablacksexystories

Thank you so much, Suzy, for letting me post on your blog and tell everyone my exciting news:
Unexpected Places has escaped!

You can tell I'm excited when I make bad puns.  To explain – my latest book, an action/adventure contemporary romance called Unexpected Places, has been released by Escape Publishing.

This book was so much fun to write. Briefly, here's what it's about:

One treasure map; a pair of priceless emeralds; two very keen hunters — only one can win, but who says that competition can’t be a little fun?

When sweet, pretty Ariana Noonan knocks out treasure hunter Luke Donahue with a champagne bottle and steals his treasure map, he vows to get his map back, find the missing priceless emeralds…and exact a fitting revenge.

When Luke finally discovers Ariana in a dingy hotel on a remote tropical island, she’s in desperate straits and he finally gains the upper hand. Of course he will rescue her. His price? They act on the attraction that’s been simmering between them from the very beginning.

But all is not as it seems, and Luke’s sexy bargain turns up not only an unbelievable secret, but Ariana’s reasons for wanting the emerald. Suddenly, nothing is clear-cut anymore, and map or no map, Luke and Ariana are sailing into uncharted territory.

If you'd like a little teaser, this excerpt comes from early in the first chapter, when Luke is about to meet Ariana.

Excerpt:
Luke watched with interest as she approached him. He'd noticed her earlier, when he'd been chatting with his dad's old secretary. A tiny, pretty little thingthe approaching blonde, not Mrs Abercrombie. She'd been standing all alone, gulping her wine. Then her attention had suddenly fixed on him. She'd started on the long approach, unaware, he was sure, that he knew she was coming.
There'd been the noise at Bob's door last week. Someone had been listening, he was sure of it, and that person knew all about the missing emeralds and the map. He'd been expecting a stranger to approach him at some point, all week. And well, well, here she was. Another girl. Another one of Changpu's little off-siders.
Of course, he could be misjudging her. Maybe she was a pretty girl who wanted sex badly, and had lousy timing. But he didn't think so. There was a steely purpose behind the way she was currently stalking him.
Again, an unfamiliar fury rose within him. For Changpu to follow him into his own company was the final straw. He'd played nice up until now. He'd been a perfect gentleman to Mai Ling. But no more. Neither the old man nor this little employee of his could expect any mercy. Luke traced the still-painful line of his scar beneath his shirt.
His eyes roved leisurely over her sweet curves, enjoying the enticing bounce of her white breasts revealed by her sexy black dress. It hugged her trim little body and came to rest at her knees. Her femininely curved hips swayed with the help of heels that must be adding inches to her height. Pretty green eyes fixed on his face. Her cute half-smile, half pout drew her lovely full lips up at their corners.
Clenching his teeth, Luke felt the muscle tick at his jaw. His stomach tightened for battle. But, to his surprise, his cock rose in enthusiastic greeting. Luke smiled, enjoying the widening wariness of her eyes, enjoying how his fury and desire for revenge had mixed into a heady, potent cocktail of lust. Grabbing a glass of the cheap champagne they were serving tonight, he stepped toward her, crowding her.

He smiled again. Or at least did his best, forcing his lips to curl up into something approximating genuine warmth. "Hi. I'm Luke. Would you care for a glass of champagne?"

EXCERPT (PG EXCERPT)

The doors hissed open.
Shana staggered from him, her mouth still wet from his kiss and Mike’s. She’d mussed his hair. Cody’s tie was askew. Backing out of the elevator, she murmured, “Good night.”
Before either of them could respond, Shana turned to flee. No way could she ever come back here.
“Whoa.” Mike grabbed her wrist as he had in the suite.
The guard at the front desk leaned up in his chair. His beer belly hung over his belt. His expression said the security cameras had shown him what had just gone down in the elevator. “Everything okay, Mr. Russo?”
“Is my driver out there?” Mike asked.
The guard craned his neck to see. “Yes sir, he is.”
“Please tell him we’ll be out in a few minutes.”
“Yes sir.”
The middle-aged man hurried outside. Mike held Shana’s wrist gently but firmly. “Good night?”
His lower lip shone with the moisture she’d left on him. Several locks dangled over his forehead. Unable to help herself, Shana eased them back. “I need to go home.”
Mike’s gaze remained lifted to her smoothing his hair. “Yeah, we get that.” Cody had just joined them. Mike spoke quietly. “You’re taking off after what just happened in the elevator?”
She lowered her hand. “It shouldn’t have.”
Cody frowned, his expression a mixture of confusion and disappointment. “Why not? Clearly, we all enjoyed it. You did, right?”
More than anything Shana could recall. Their strength was thrilling and protective, an amazing combination she longed for but couldn’t risk.
Her throat tightened. Tears threatened.
Suddenly, she felt beyond weary and so alone she rested her head against Cody’s shoulder. Stupid, she knew, but Shana couldn’t help herself.
Cody hesitated a moment, then ran his hand down her hair. Mike played with her fingers.
She fought against smiling and crying. Crap, her emotions were all over the place.
“You okay?” Cody murmured.
Shana nodded then shook her head then nodded once more.
“You’re hungry and tired,” Mike said, speaking softly. “You’re not yourself.”
She laughed, unable to stop. “How can you say that? You don’t know me.”
“We want to,” Cody whispered.
Her belly clenched with worry. What they were asking for wouldn’t work. Shana knew they’d never harm her deliberately. They weren’t that kind of men. However, they were human and eventually they’d hurt her. It was what people did to each other, whether they meant to or not. Best not to get involved. She needed peace. They deserved a better woman than she could ever be.
“We can talk about it in the car,” Mike promised.
Shana eased away from Cody then memorized his and Mike’s features because she couldn’t see either of them again.
“Really, we can,” Cody said.
Smiling sadly, she straightened his tie then patted the knot, drinking him in, loving the gentleness in his expression, his rough good looks.
“What?” he asked, as Mike had earlier.
Shana’s emotions raged, battling with her thoughts. What she knew she had to do.
The guard returned from the outside.
She glanced at him then the glass door swinging closed.
Mike and Cody shifted their weight as though they expected her to bolt.
Shana should have. Leave, she ordered herself. Now.
The guard looked at her curiously.
She turned from him before he could read her expression. Mike and Cody studied her.
Both of them were everything she’d ever wanted in a man, in a friend, and far more than she’d hoped for.
Go.
“Yes,” she said, speaking before she could stop herself. “I enjoyed every second.”
They smiled.
“And I’d like more,” she added, admitting what was in her heart.
Now, they grinned.
“But it’d only be sex,” she said, low enough so the guard wouldn’t hear. “Having a good time. Nothing personal. Ever. You guys couldn’t possibly want that. You deserve more.”
“Wait,” Mike said, again keeping her from leaving. “Who said we’re looking for a commitment for god’s sake. What’s wrong with just being friends?”
“Yeah,” Cody chimed in. “We already know what kind of lattes you like and that you’re into cheesecake brownies. That’s personal. As far as I can see the world didn’t screech to a stop when we found that out.” He glanced around then shook his head. “Nope. It hasn’t.”
Mike leaned close, delivering his wonderful fragrance. “We’ll keep it fun. Promise.”
“Nothing personal,” Cody said. “Strictly surface crap. We’ll talk about work, clients, sports, films, food, books. Stuff like that.”
“Why?” she asked, stirred by what they’d said, frightened as hell too.
Smiling, Mike brushed Shana’s hair from her shoulder and stroked the side of her neck. Her breath caught.
“Because we like you,” he murmured. “That’s what friends do. However, I do have one personal question, and I want an answer.”
Her skin got clammy. She stepped back.
He followed. “Are you in trouble or in some kind of danger? Is that what this is about? If so, let us know, please. We can help.”
Shana stared at him.
“Is someone trying to hurt you?” Cody asked.
She thought about Raptor, the threat he’d presented in the past. What he’d do now if he were lucky enough to find her.
“No,” she lied. “No one’s after me.” She faked a laugh. “Seriously, you guys were really in military intelli—”
Cody interrupted, “We just want to help, all right?”
Sobering, Shana nodded.
“We won’t grill you on anything personal,” he said. “But you can’t ask us anything either.”
“That’s right.” Mike took her hand. “No more hacking into our accounts either, business or otherwise. Remember, our lives are as private as yours is. Come on."

ADULT EXCERPT

Neither Mike Russo nor Cody Latham had expected her to show up in their conference room.
Of course, they wouldn’t have, given the various laws she’d broken to be here.
Shana Gallagher’s pulse ticked up another notch at that and their good looks. Virile and commanding. They were deliciously hot and smart, having once worked in military intelligence.
Mike, the proverbially tall, dark and handsome hunk, had found his way into government via his MIT training. He’d left DC five years ago to start his own firm. Now thirty-three, he regarded Shana with momentary surprise then male interest as his attention raked over her.
Despite her best intentions, Shana’s skin tingled.
To his side was Cody. Equally impressive at thirty-four, he forgot to take a sip of his coffee. The Starbucks cup was inches from his mouth as he also took her in. Quietly and restrained.
Shana’s belly quivered at the heat in his gaze, so at odds with his military background. It showed in the set of his broad shoulders and modified buzz cut, his hair short on the sides with volume on top. Those dark blond locks complemented his golden skin and hazel eyes.
Mike’s were greenish-gray, an arresting color given his olive complexion and chestnut hair, a bit longish and casually styled. Several strands dangled over his forehead, begging a woman to ease them back.
Currents of warmth rippled through Shana, leaving her cruelly weak. She hadn’t expected to react like this. During her research on them, she’d seen hundreds of their photos, including those not meant for the public. Their days spent with women, outdoors at the beach or sailing, both men’s hard bodies stripped to their swim trunks and bared to the sun. Mike’s bold tattoo on his left bicep. The cruel scar on Cody’s right pec that enhanced his masculinity.
None of those pictures had done them justice.
“Mr. Russo, Mr. Lathan,” the office manager murmured, her somber hush appropriate for this high-priced firm in New York’s Financial District. Dressed in a severe gray suit, the matronly woman smelled funereal, of incense and carnations. She inclined her perfectly coiffed head to Shana. “Ms. Gallagher, your four o’clock.”
Before Mike or Cody could say “huh” or “who?” Shana stepped deeper into the yawning room. It was possibly two thousand square feet and decorated in a combination of rose, beige and brown, its bank of windows offering a spectacular view of the harbor. An NYPD boat and cruises packed with tourists cut through the water, leaving foamy trails. Sunlight winked off those swells and the glass buildings, giving the early September day a dreamy, golden haze.
The door clicked shut behind Shana, leaving her alone with the men.
Mike pushed to his feet, his six-three frame superbly clothed in an Italian suit that probably cost five grand. Its subtle navy tones and his pale blue shirt heightened the effect of his sapphire tie. Cody’s was gray-and-white striped, his shirt charcoal, his suit a pewter color. Surprisingly fashionable given his conservative background.
He stood. His height matched Mike’s. Both men were lean yet muscular.
Power and male privilege radiated from them. Everything Shana had always mistrusted and despised. She couldn’t quite manage those feelings now. She knew far too much about them. They were surprisingly good men, downright decent, which added to their seductive allure and had brought her here.
Shana crossed the room, forcing herself to walk casually as though she belonged. The slit in her pencil skirt allowed the black fabric to fall away from her leg, exposing a bit of her thigh. Mike and Cody’s attention dropped to her sheer stockings and spike heels.
Hard carnal interest flared on their faces.
A curious mixture of pleasure and caution rushed through Shana, draining her strength. She put her leather tote on the granite table, the smooth stone a soft rose color speckled with gray, black and brown.
The moment she slipped her hand under the tote’s flap, Mike said, “Hold it right there.”
He’d spoken quietly. However, his deep baritone filled the impressive space, demanding obedience.
Shana calmed herself as well as she could and lifted her face to his. At this hour, stubble shadowed his upper lip, chin and cheeks. His lashes were unspeakably long. His attention moved from the tote to her silk blouse, the color of black cherries. No one had to tell Shana that her nipples were hard and jutting against the fabric. Suddenly, Mike couldn’t seem to look anywhere else.
A wave of heat rushed to her neck, her arousal unruly.
He cleared his throat. His prominent Adam’s apple bobbed with his swallow. “Who are you?”
Time for the truth. Sort of.
